Product details

Overview & performance

Micro-pore disc aerators use an EPDM or silicone membrane pierced with fine micro-pores. Air is distributed through the membrane to produce fine, uniform bubbles that rise through the mixed liquor, giving efficient oxygen transfer with lower energy use than coarse-bubble aerators.

Key features:

  1. Fine, uniform micro-pore bubbles for high oxygen transfer efficiency.
  2. EPDM or silicone membrane to match service conditions — EPDM for general service, silicone for higher temperature or specific chemical conditions.
  3. Good backflow prevention and low resistance, with a strong, durable body.
  4. Easy installation on aeration pipework; several diameters to suit different tanks.

Specification: diameter 215 / 260 / 300 mm, EPDM or silicone membrane. Uses: aerobic tanks, aerated biofilters, activated sludge and aquaculture systems.

Common questions

Disc aerator selection questions

Disc diameter, membrane material and the details to confirm before requesting a quotation.

Q1

Which disc diameter should I choose?

We publish 215 / 260 / 300 mm. Our recommendations are 215 mm and 260 mm in EPDM, and 300 mm in silicone. Diameter changes how many units you need and how air is distributed across the tank floor — it is not only a capacity choice.

Q2

EPDM or silicone membrane?

EPDM is the default for municipal wastewater: good chemical resistance for typical duty and lower cost per unit. Its weak point is oil, grease and some industrial solvents. Silicone tolerates oils and greases better and handles higher temperatures, at a higher unit cost. For industrial effluent carrying hydrocarbons, specify silicone or confirm the chemistry with us first.

Q3

What applications do they suit?

Aerobic tanks, aerated biofilters and aquaculture oxygenation. Disc assemblies connect to standard air distribution pipework, so retrofits are normally a straight replacement.

Q4

How many diffusers will I need?

It follows from your oxygen demand, tank floor area and chosen diffuser spacing — not from a per-unit air figure alone. Give us tank dimensions, required oxygen transfer and blower pressure, and we will confirm a layout.

Q5

Replace the membrane or the whole disc?

Both exist and the answer changes the quotation significantly. Tell us whether you need membranes only or complete disc assemblies, plus the connection standard. Membranes are a wear item — fouling and hardening cut transfer efficiency long before anything fails, so replacing on schedule matters more than the material chosen.

Q6

What does a disc aerator cost?

On request, because it depends on disc diameter, membrane material, connection standard, quantity and destination. Confirm those five points and we quote against them.
